These are the semi-organized source files for the Butcher monster I originally made back in 2021. Given they haven't been doing much, I've decided to release them as open-source under a CC-BY-NC license.
First thing to note: this is NOT something you can just drop into a project to use with no changes. It is a resource for others to refine and build upon to make it into something people -can- just drop into a project.
It includes a Blender source file for the model itself, scripts to render that model into 8-rotation sprites (also embedded into the .blend file), a set of direct render output sprites from blender, as well as sound effects. The pre-rendered sprites haven't had any cleanup or repainting done to them, they are just raw rendered output.
I have also included a ZScript reference implementation for GZDoom in the file butctest.wad, containing Doom-format/palette versions of the rendered sprites and an arena containing four Butchers (MAP01). And an arch-vile, of course.
